A community map of free cooling spots

When a heatwave hits, everyone deserves somewhere cool to go. ACMap shows the free, public places around you where you can beat the heat — libraries, malls, community centers, shelters — all on one live map.

Cooling centers exist in most cities, but finding one when you need it is the hard part — the information is scattered across city pages, hours change, and half of it is out of date. ACMap puts it on one map that the community keeps current.

Tap any pin to see what it is and when it was last confirmed. No account needed to look — and if you know a spot that isn’t on the map, adding it takes one tap.

What you get

Built for the moment you actually need it: a hot day and a phone in your hand.

How it stays fresh

A map of cooling spots is only worth opening if it’s current. ACMap keeps itself honest through the people using it.

01

Live map

Every free, public cooling spot around you on one map — no city-website scavenger hunt.

02

Community-verified

Neighbors vote whether a spot is still open and still cool, so bad data gets corrected fast.

03

Last confirmed

Each spot shows when it was last verified, so you can trust it before you head out.

04

One-tap add

See a place with free AC that isn’t on the map? Drop a pin in one tap for everyone.

Who it’s for

Anyone riding out a heatwave, and the people looking out for others during one — parents, caregivers, outreach workers, or just a good neighbor who knows where the cool, free places are.

How it’s built

A public-good map with no ad-tech agenda, self-hosted on the PPVNX home cluster behind Cloudflare.

Every pin is put there and kept fresh by real people. Community votes decide whether a spot is still open and still cool, and each one carries the date it was last confirmed.
